The Ledger
This is the record of every Barnfield garment, from the ones that launched the brand to those currently under development. Every step is recorded as it happens: the patterns, the toiles, the set backs and the solutions.

Our tailor has retired, just as production was lining up. You genuinely couldn't make it up. After six weeks of looking, we've found a replacement.
A flight jacket in navy wool doeskin from Mallalieus, with a genuine sheepskin collar.

The latest Hunter sample is back, and it's the one I'm most concerned about. The collar juts straight out sideways instead of rising first and then folding down, and the sheepskin is too thick to press into shape. The sleeves...
A chore coat in navy cotton gabardine, with every seam inside bound so none of them show.

Round two of notes on the Ventura. The sleeve hangs dead straight rather than following the arm, so it's being articulated, and it comes up 2cm to 64.5cm. There's also a hanging loop inside the neck, and a longer overlap...

Still waiting on the yarn. The spinner's batch missed its cone weight and had to be re-spun. It arrives tomorrow and the first sample should follow next week.
A refined trucker made from lambswool melton, silk lined, finished with antique brass press studs and hand made in London.

How a garment moves through the ledger
Designed, patterned and sampled in the open, here. Follow a garment and you hear when there is something to report.
The first run opens to its followers 48 hours before anyone else. Price, cloth and delivery are confirmed at this point, not before.
Once the first run has shipped, the garment moves to Made. Its ledger stays open, from the first sketch to the day it shipped.
